Call NorthWest - The Future of the Call Centre

Back in 1999 CRM equalled call centre: wall to wall stands at every CRM exhibition exuded the relationship benefits of the channel. But, in reality call centres have not equalled better relationships and dealing with modern ‘contact centres’ is high on the list of stressful experiences. Many customers would prefer efficient self service to talking to a run of the mill call centre agent. At CallNorthWest’s directors debate on ‘Automation and Strategic Planning for the Future’ recently, Director

The Top Ten Coma Songs Ever

The Top Ten Coma Songs Ever “CELLAR coma girl wakes after seven weeks after being played Robbie Williams songs,” says the Mail. Josef Fritzl’s granddaughter and daughter Kerstin Fritzl has woken from her two-month coma after being played Robbie Williams songs, says the Mail. There seems to be something intolerably cruel in playing Robbie Williams to a comatose patient, and we would say it were further evidence of innate Austrian barbarity and how Williams is just a shorter Richard Wagner in

God Hates Us: AAAA Batteries Intro’d

You know what? Fuck Energizer and fuck that stupid pink bunny who keeps going and going. Batteries suck. I hate paying $4 for a 9V battery as much as you do. In fact, it’s absolute bullshit. So as a bullshit company, it makes perfect sense for Energizer to introduce yet another battery format to the market. This time around, it’s AAAA batteries, which no devices use. This ultra-small battery is supposedly designed for small electronics use. DAPs, Bluetooth headsets, wireless headphones and a

Ultimate Ears Tricks Kids, Saves Their Ears

With loss of hearing becoming a major epidemic that no one seems to be addressing in the age of the ubiquitous iPod, it's refreshing to seea successful earphone manufacturer not only raise awareness, but do something about it. Loud Enough is a new line of earphones aimed at kids and made by Ultimate Ears. The concept is simple: built-in circuitry limits the volume output of the earphones. Children can blast their iPods at maximum volume, and the sound pressure level will still be roughly 20 dB

Oh happy day

Yesterday, Wednesday, nearly a year after my physical and unexpected confrontation with the underside of a car, I finally got back on a bike. Good times, although I needed to re-adjust the height of the seat, and I need to get used to these newfangled gears. But wow, who knew how quickly you can accelerate on an aluminum/carbon-frame bike. Also yesterday, after many failed attempts by friends and family, and again nearly a year of gathering dust (don’t judge me), our home theatre is finally (

Music for your dreams - Stereo Sound Pillow

Almost every other week a new sound pillow is hitting the stores. I am not sure if they are getting sold like hot cakes but it seems companies see a business opportunity in them. Merging their expertise in high quality small speakers with a product everyone is using every day - a pillow - looks like a logical addition to their pro

Top 12 Disappointments with the new iPhone 3G

I've read many glowing summaries of the new iPhone 3G. And I agree with all of them. I can't wait to get one myself on July 11. However, despite Steve Jobs claiming that Apple listened to customers to incorporate everything missing from the first generation iPhone, there are still a few misses. Here's my list of what I wish would have also been included in the Apple iPhone 3G. MMS - It's still not possible to send pictures to other cell phones. Sure, you can e-mail pictures, but the iPhone is

Monthly Crush: The Heavy

If the play count in my iTunes library is any indication, I think I’ve found the soundtrack to my summer: Great Vengeance and Furious Fire, the debut album from the UK’s The Heavy, has been getting loads of love in my speakers and headphones recently, and it keeps growing on me with every listen. Great Vengeance is a fantastic, gritty, rocking soul album that’s loaded with more fuzzy guitars, funky horns, and hip-hop beats than a David Holmes soundtrack album. It’s also a nice, taut release: c

Headphones Road-Test: WESC Bag PipeThe Lady Tigra on Booty Bass and DJ Gear

Los Angeles-based electro-bass singer and DJ, Lady Tigra, was raised in Spanish Harlem, Queens, New York. Prior to working as a solo artist, Lady Tigra was part of L'Trimm-- a female rapping duo in Miami’s provocative-lyric-driven bass moment, in which 2 Live Crew served as her big brothers of sorts. Sleep Hard

Sleep Hard June 11th, 2008 Last night I got into bed, turned out the light, stretched and…woke up nine hours later.  No joke. When I was younger I used to be able to sleep through anything.  I lived on the Co-Ed floor in college (my school was small and we only had one) and slept through many a morning of “hallway pinball” in which my floormates threw basketballs down the hallway, the goal being to bounce it off the walls and doors as many times as possible.  Earlier on, the only way to

The cellphone debate

As a heavy user of mobile technology, and the first TV journalist in New Zealand to own a cellphone (my contractual arrangement became a template for others down the track), I have both applause for the move to ban handheld cellphone use in cars, but also questions about it. Firstly, I think all of us can attest to hair-raising moments involving cellphones and drivers. However, according to official police stats only 32 fatalities over the past six years can be attributed to cellphone use.

Healthy Hearing Habits

I’ve recently become concerned about the impact my iPod use is having on my hearing.  I listen to sermons approximately 2 hours per day during my commute by bus and subway.  Last week I began to notice a funny sensation in my ears after taking the ear buds out when I arrived at home.  My ears were closing down like they do when exposed to loud noise.  I suspect my ears were in protection mode, but the ear bud was getting the sound by. It wasn’t until I had them out that I realized what was hap

Tales of Yore

For those who grew up with me back in good old Stumblebum, Michigan, it was well known that my parents' house was...interesting. Whereas everybody else lived in average homes filled with everyday, run of the mill goods, mine was more of a museum. The house itself sat on the remnants of an old landfill, surrounded by swamps and located next door to a cemetery. As if this doesn't ignite the old homefires enough, it's worth noting that my parents were collectors and dealers of antiquities, so the

Drop Everything for this Stew Interview

Interview with Stew Hilarious and insightful, as he often is: Here’s a quote! What did you know about theater or Broadway before you developed this show? Very little. I had a lot of respect for people like Bertolt Brecht. I had read Brecht, and he touches a lot of rock performers more than any other theorist or writer in the theater world, I think, because his theories are very rock ‘n’ roll. Like the way he talks about the way an actor plays a role without trying to make anyone think that

iPods leading to a new generation of deaf young adults

You might love listening to your favourite music on your iPods, but a new survey has revealed that more than 70 pct of young adults are loosing their hearing power, thanks to the increasing use of headphones. The survey led by Australian Hearing showed that more than 70 pct of the youngsters are suffering from the first sign of hearing loss with tinnitus or ringing in the ear. This may be due to listening to music played at dangerously loud levels through headphones. “Th

Semiotic Mathematical Etymology

Did that title strike you as pretentious? I mean it in earnest I swear. During a design meeting at a previous job, a consultant suggested we use the “visual thesaurus” for brainstorming ideas about names for the company. That term “visual thesaurus” made me think of something pretty ambitious. It turns out that what she meant and what I imagined were two different things. She was talking about this but I imagined that a “visual thesaurus” would be more like a catalog consisting of pictures o

White is back!

When the iPod Classic was revealed a few months back, I was chatting with blogjunkie about the colour and material of Apple products. Apple has been using white as their main colour in all their products, since the iconic iPod in 2001, heck, even their now infamous iPod headphones were a big hit when it first released, which sparked a slew of advertisment campaigns for the iPod.  White was the in thing back then for Apple and everything that was in white was associated with Apple.  In fact, I

Top 10 Reasons Why the iPhone is STILL NO BlackBerry!

Back in April our CrackBerry.com correspondent Al Sacco wrote an article entitled Top 10 Reasons Why the iPhone is NO BlackBerry. If you haven't read that masterpiece yet, be sure to check it out. It caused quite a stir and received a ton of feedback from the smartphone community. In that article, Al made note that the release of the iPhone 2.0 would likely address a few of the original Top 10 Reasons stated, and yesterday that was proven to be true. Stuff They Fixed: The new iPhone is

Lil Wayne Finally Drops “Tha Carter III” Today

After multiple delays and leaks, Lil Wayne’s most anticipated album of 2007, and now 2008, “Tha Carter III” drops today in record stores and Wal-Mart major retailers. If you’re a real hip-hop fan, you’ve probably followed the album’s progress over the past year, checking out the leaked songs, downloading the mix-tapes and hearing Lil Wayne guest star on more than 50 singles. Read all about it on Wikipedia. I picked up my copy of “Tha Carter III” at my local Easy Street Records during lunch. Af

Review: Insignia Pilot 8GB and the Insignia Bluetooth Headphones

I have a confession to make: I am a iPod owner who dislikes his iPod. I don’t hate the iPod; quite the contrary, I really like it but am frustrated by it’s caretaker, Apple. For everything Apple has done right, there’s lots of things that it has done wrong. For example, if you look at the files on the iPod itself you’ll see undecipherable file names for each of your music files. Plus there’s Apple’s Love/Hate relationship with DRM. Then there’s codec limitations. You can listen to MP3, AAC,Prot

A few more art projects

School is out as of today! I couldn't tell which were happier, the students or the teachers. This I know: in one week, the kids will be bored and ready to go back to school. The teachers won't get bored, but by August, we will all be ready to go back to school. After today, I don't plan on showing any more student art work until I return to my classroom at the end of summer break. So, to carry you over, here are a few more projects we worked on this year. First

BURN NOTICE INTERVIEW: Jeffrey Donovan, the man who doesn’t Sweat, sits down with Michelle!

So here’s the thing, a few weeks ago USA Network contacted me out of the blue and said hey, would you like to come down to Miami for a little Junket for Burn Notice. I was like hells yeah - even though I had no idea what Burn Notice was. But I’m always up for a free trip. Then after a few round of emails, I asked are they paying for it. Nope, had to pay for it out of my own pocket. But I was still going to go. After boning up a bit on the show (as much as I could - considering all the power

Fresh warning over headphones (Stuff)

Alarming numbers of young Australians are risking long-term hearing loss by listening to blaring iPods and going to noisy nightclubs.

The 3G iPhone; What is in the box and what’s not

While the new lower price of the phone is welcomed its not really going to be as cheap as just plunking down your $199 or $299. Some have already made the argument that the 3G service is going to be $30 instead of the current $20, which over the course of a 2-year agreement will [...]

Travel Tip Tuesday- In Flight Comfort

In-Flight Comfort!?  Sounds like an oxymoron, doesn't it?  Is there really such a thing as being comfortable on an airplane anymore? Well, short of pumping myself full of enough alcohol, Ambien and Valium, so that I arrive foggy brained at my destination in a drooling, drunken, drugged stupor...Uhh, where was I going with this? Oh, yeah, right.... I'll never be comfortable on a plane! But I have a few helpful hints that can at least make it tolerable. >> Wear a pashmina.  It mu

iTunes 3G Music Store - not yet...

Despite being 3G, Apple's new iPhone won't allow users to download music from iTunes using 3G networks - at least, not yet. According to Apple's product page, the mobile version of the iTunes Music Store will remain solely accessible using WiFi. Is this a missed opportunity? We think it might be - but, equally, Apple has a practise of dribbling new features out during the life of a product, in order to stimulate and to maintain sales. Look to Napster Mobile, Rhapsody and the numerous (but

Having things my way

Today I used Google to find more information on ‘headphone amp’.. And this is one of the many results I found: Most laptops have at least two ways of letting sound out - via built in speakers and via a headphone jack … of the headphone’s output independent of the speaker volume! This lets me set the main speaker volume high (and usually muted) while leaving the headphone volume at a more reasonable level. kmix I am happy source: Having things my way, Sounds From The Dungeon Frankly,

Make your own UB7: Apple iPhone headphones + ER6i buds

Ultimate Buds is company with an interesting business model: instead of making their own buds â€" and thus invest a lot of money on R&D â€" they combine existing hi-class headphones with Apple’s stock iPhone headphones. They pick the cable with mic/skip switch from Apple and sound drivers from the well respected headphones. The most known product is headphones. Which (ER6i) I happen to already have. I also have an iPhone and the stock headphones. I always hated the lousy ER6i cable, but the nois

IPhone 3G: Twice as Fast, Half the Price, No Dock

In chopping the price of the iPhone in two, Apple has made some sacrifices. Just like the first iPod, the first iPhone shipped with everything: cables, headphones and dock. Later iterations dropped more and more, and the boxes became smaller. So, too, with the iPhone. The new $200 3G model drops the bundled dock. Fair enough. Most of us probably have some kind of dock sitting around (I have a bunch in my junk box) and it does keep the price down. What's more interesting is the trend of trimmin

Twice as Fast, Half the Price, Still Don't Want It

3G - don't need it GPS - don't need it black ceramic (?) instead of aluminum, because the aluminum reflected back signals, resulting in poor reception - lol Real internet - on a portable, all i want is text Recessed headphone jack now flush with body (so you can use any headphones, not just theirs) Isn't this what the original should have been like? Something that sucks about the MacBook Pro

I have done zero research into this problem, so you’ll have to forgive me if it’s an easy fix. The issue I’ve been having with my MBP is that once I plug in my headphones, the volume jumps to 100 percent and I forget about it every single time, which perpetuates my already horrendous hearing. This was not a problem with my MacBook, though. If I recall correctly, the volume actually went to 50 percent. Am I missing something here? Is there a setting or did Apple just screw this up?

My way home meme

Ben tagged me with the my way home meme, and being busy last week, I ignored my feed reader until the weekend. I had originally thought I should do it in reverse, take the photos on my way to work and reverse them, because I start work late and return home late in the dark at this time of year. I also chose to take the photos on Monday, which was one of the few stormy days of the year and instead of riding my pushbike to the train station, I took the bus. So here is my trip home on a stormy win

Away From Her

So last night, after dinner, after my goodnights to Shemah and after I got off the phone with Rafiq, I curled into bed, put my headphones on, put my box of Kleenex ready by my side, and hit the play button to watch 'Away From Her'... About less than half an hour later, I was already weeping. Darn! I didn't know it was gonna be THAT sad! But it was. It is! The movie is really sad! And it's really

Channeling my inner child...

Sometimes you couldn't possibly imagine what the day will hold... This morning the studio called me in for a voice-over audition. I got the necessary specifics: the time I needed to be there. I arrived, gave bisous kisses to everyone in the lobby, was handed my text and hurried into the studio. The technician lowered the mic about 18 inches down to Kari-height, I put on my headphones and got my instructions. The last time I was called in, I did a voice-over for a news report on an award-winni

Headache Day, Apple's New Toys, and Misc

While today's utter hell had nothing to do directly with the 6 hours of training in a small stuffy room with a guy talking really loud so one other guy at the other end of a conference call could hear, it certainly didn't help. The painful migraine that started early noon-ish and continued until about the time I got home at 7 was the main hell, though the short snooze on the train (helped along by a handful of super strength Tylenol I'm sure) helped. I've still got a bit of it hiding in the bac

Bobby’s Batch #16 - Pagerank, Entrecard and Blogging

One thing I really like to do on each of my Bobby’s Batch posts, is that each have a unique title and an article included before the links are listed. I have a few blogging observations this week I’d like to share with you. About Pagerank I have many pet peeves about blogging and I believe them to be rooted in my personal sense of ethics. One area most bloggers do not understand is concerning Google pagerank. I’m often perplexed when I see a personal blogger (or any blogger) displaying their p

Fighting the Funk - Taking A Long Walk

OK, my “Fight the Funk” day is coming to a close. I'm not going to lie, I'm still in a bit of a funk. I started the day better then I'm ending it. I didn't make it to the gym, I wasn't up for a run, so I took a nice long walk alone with my headphones. It was great! AND much better then watching TV for that half hour (which would have made the funk a lot worse!) I realize my blog has turned into a self help outlet but boy did I need it. I'm taking 3 days off this week and heading to the beach

Stoking the Spur: 2009 Bentley Continental Flying Spur Speed

The 2009 model year will see Bentley christen its Continental Flying Spur with details and gadgetry and presence it granted the Continental GT coupe for 2008. That means the new Flying Spur will bow with exterior treatments, especially to the front of the car, a greater palette for whims over interior materials, paradoxically more profound audio system capabilities and more attempts to isolate the cabin from road noise, and details beyond. Probably more exciting, particularly since Bentleys

Skype Fake Out

First off, I gotta say, Skype (or Skippie as my dad would say) has been a Godsend for Kristi and I. There is nothing cooler than being able to talk, with video, across the globe, for free. Due to the time zone situation (8 hours difference), Kristi and I usually Skype when she's at work. Funny thing is, she doesn't want people to think she is crazy, since she uses her computer's built in mic and a pair of headphones to chat. So what is she to do? Fake a cell phone call, that's what. Philips and Swarovski combined their interests to create Active Crystals. The headphones and usb keys are super baller. It is nice to see technology that is not focused on an image of technology. The crystals are pretty crazy, but at least they don't look like a radar station poking out of your ear.

Too much politics? Have some, er, Star Trek Sex.

Okay, if the last Obama clip was a little too much, I recommend you enjoy this: Star Trek: The Motion Picture (Ponn Farr edition). The video is absolutely safe, the audio is not safe for work. Don't even watch at the office with headphones on: people will ask you what you're laughing at so much, and then you'll be compelled to show them. And that lead to an HR violation. HTC Touch Diamond review

Hardware Design: Let’s get the good stuff out of the way first: this is a sleek, well balanced, attractive handset. It sits well in your hand and feels almost perfectly weighted. There are certainly smaller and thinner phones out there, but HTC has struck an impressive balance between usability and efficiency of design. The hardware button layout is a far cry from the “everything-but-the-kitchen-sink” ethos of the Kaiser/Mogul/etc, with 4 hardware navigation buttons (Home, Back, Call Answer

Yesterday I went for a jog. And this happened. And today, I got a replacement pair of headphones from Hubs! Byebye, Audio Technica. I will miss the aural orgasms you gave me. But your wires just weren’t as hardy as I’d like them to be. Our musical journey together only lasted a year, though I wish it would go on longer. You served me well. The Sennheiser cannot compare to the aural enjoyment you offered to me. *hugs*

Secret Rules for Air Hostesses

How does an air hostess's weight matter ? Of course it's vital, as any airlines will tell you. Air hostesses must be slim and young and pretty. Never mind if they are not courteous or speak such poor English that they do not understand what "toast" means. That's not what their job is about anyway. The Hon'ble (male) judges of the Delhi High Court would agree. The Court thinks that Air India (or Indian or whatever they call themselves now) was right to ground five air hostesses because they wer

Count Bass D Discusses Live Instrumentation And Upcoming Projects With Cosign

Link Ill. So with this work with STS9 and a live instrumentation EP, it seems that you’re experiencing a shift from production to live music. Yeah, I started out doing live music for my first album “Pre-Life Crisis“, but at that point I didn’t really know how to sample myself and do the type of things that I did later on. Back then, I would just start a click track with the TR-808 in my headphones and play drums first, play bass second, and play my keyboards third. Thats pretty much how I

Audio Books

I’ve always found the idea of audio books interesting but never really looked into them. I know that a lot of people listen to them while driving but I always figured for my short jaunts, I’d much rather listen to tunes. Well, I’ve had a couple of auto-tapes that I’d never listened to â€" Christine Feehan’s “Dark Prince” and another one â€" which of course, is completely slipping my mind and I can’t find it. Ain’t that always the way? I have no doubt I’ll find it when I least expect it. Anyhoo, ab

While we can't call these Bose headphones a bargain, they're somewhat of a bargain for Bose headphones.

Sleek Audio Custom Molded Earphones

As promised here is some more info on the new Sleek Audio Custom Molded Earphones... The Sleek Audio Custom In-Ear Monitors use the same single driver setup as the Sleek Audio SA6 earphones and they can be configured to match one's listening preferences based on the SA6's interchangeable port system. I listened to a pair of SA6's for a couple weeks and determined that I liked the "neutral" bass port and "+" treble port the best. Using that information, the guys at Sleek Audio configured my

The Would-Be Mugging

I was mugged last night. Well, nearly mugged. I was threatened with mugging by would-be muggers, put it that way. Had I been carrying anything worth mugging a person for, I would have most certainly been mugged. Unfortunately for the would-be muggers, however, I wasn't, and there's little to be gained from mugging a person for nothing, unless one mugs for the thrill of ithe mug. Personally, I wouldn't know. I've never mugged and have no intention to start. I was walking home past the housing c

The function of a newspaper in a democracy is to stand as a sort of chronic opposition to the reigning quacks. The minute it begins to out-whoop them it forfeits its character and becomes ridiculous. - H.L. Mencken

Small Metal Objects: A sharp take on public art, community and friendship

We're sitting in covered bleachers wearing jet-black headphones. Everyone's looking, and some visitors to the Sculpture Garden break off what they're doing entirely to give us a good, long look. A few of our collaborators, though, are effectively being ignored by the hundreds of passers-by. And they're the performers.

New ways to plug, play (Richmond Times-Dispatch)

Memorex has added two digital audio players to its lineup: the MMP8590 Digital Media Player and the mini Clip & Play MP3 Player. Think of the MMP8590 as a more affordable and smaller iPod nano (minus the video). It has up to 4GB of flash memory, a 1.5-inch color OLED screen with photo viewer and, unlike the iPods, an FM radio. You can get it in white, pink/white and black.

$1 Headphone Adapter for iPhone

I’ve just reviewed the iMetal Isolation Headset for iPhone, a pair of iPhone earphones I enjoyed. But good sound quality and iPhone-compatibility come at a price. In the case of the iMetal headset, $70. If you’ve already got a pair of headphones you like, but which are not iPhone-compatible because they don’t reach into the iPhone’s recessed headphone input, then you might be better off getting a cable adapter instead of new headphones. I’ve reviewed Griffin’s iPhone headphone adapter, a pr

Pugsley stairs at a mannequin that will never, ever, ever manage to land the big one at our trip to the local Bass Pro Shop©. I think that between the things The Boy wanted, and the things I wanted, we could have spent $575,321. Thankfully The Mrs. was there to keep us from spending my nursing-home money away. It started innocently enough. “I want to dance. Dance for about two hours,” The Boy said. “Later,” was my response. I can understand the impulse to cavort wildly in the air-conditione

Watch a Scene from Pixar’s WALL-E

A new video clip from Pixar’s WALL-E was shown during ABC’s airing of Finding Nemo. The scene involves Eve placing our favorite little trash compacting robot in a shuttle back to earth. But things aren’t as they first appear, and WALL-E ends up in explosive situation. Sigourney Weaver makes a cameo as the voice of the space shuttle computer. Thanks to /Film Reader Kevin for sending this us the clip. You’ve seen WALL-E encounter a vacuum, a magnet, a Hula Hoop, headphones and bouncy balls.

iMetal Isolation Headset for iPhone [Review]

I’m listening to The Beatles’ Abbey Road on my iPhone right now, but I’m enjoying it more than usual because I’m using the iMetal Isolation Headset for iPhone that Maximo sent me. I have to be honest: I’m not the best judge of these earphones because I’ve never owned an isolation headset before. I’d only briefly listened to isolation headphones one other time before first trying the Maximo ones a week ago. But I can honestly say when listening to these vs. listening to Apple’s $30 white ear

Science Roundup

Here are a few interesting science stories I came across this week: I remember a few years ago when scientists reassessed the age of the universe down from 20 billion to a mere 14.5 billion years. The headlines blared, "Universe Much Younger than Previously Believed" and all the young-earth-creationists started celebrating like the evidence now confirmed their belief in a 6,000 year old cosmos. Well, I guarantee the same thing is going to happen with this story. New evidence suggests that moun

Thaksin out?

My 'case' passed through the Dutch bureaucratic windmill and I was granted a new passport, picking it up in Bangkok on Friday. Not having been too impressed with last time's hostel, I now opted for a room in the decent Asha guesthouse. A Little Weather Drama for a Sunday Afternoon The day started out hot and humid. It seems like we skipped over spring entirely and went full on into summer. Lori and I got up early and met to run 3 miles outside. (Our training program starts officially tomorrow.) We were dripping wet and red-faced by the time we returned. If the rest of the summer is like this we are in big trouble! We headed to the pool after lunch -- Lori and Francie and I and all the kids -- and it was hot, hot, hot and

In The New York Times Magazine: Noise-canceling headphones

SILENCE GENERATION Technology adapts to eliminate the clatter of city life, one person at a time For today’s special issue of The New York Times Magazine, The Next City, I devoted the Consumed column to a look at noise-canceling headphones, in particular the Bose QuietComfort line. The connection to the “city” idea is that such headphones are relevant to the thing that makes cities both appealing and oppressive: All the other people. Originally developed for use in airplanes, Bose’s headpho

DC Blogs: Recent Finds

When this listing was assembled last, May 25th, gas at the my local Adams Morgan gas station was $4.05. It’s now $4.15, which may explain why blogging activity seems to be picking up. This is a list of blogs that have turned up in either the email or in recent searches. They aren’t necessarily new blogs. There are close to 40 blogs on this list. It almost seems as if there’s another new blogging wave is building. Some of these blogs may already be in the live feed. Listing in the feed i

Here we are, early on a Sunday morning and the dog won’t let me sleep. The rest of the family is still sawing wood, so I figured a good plan would be to put on the headphones and surf the GooToobz. An RV, An RV, My Kingdom for an RV

My friend Squirt, B.R.’s baby sister, and her family are on an RV vacation. (I don’t think gas was $4 a gallon when they got this all set up and rented their rig.) She’s blogging about the grand adventure at a “family and friends” site that I’m enjoying enormously. Thanks to a cellular card, Internet access isn’t a problem. No more the days of balancing a 50-lb. laptop on one knee while connecting an acoustic coupler to a pay phone in 30 degree weather. (Yes, I’ve done that.) Reading about the

2nd Generation iPhone Wishlist

Since everyone basically assumes that we will be seeing a new iPhone tomorrow I figured I would let Apple know what I want (and if they don’t read my blog, they should start). 3G - Although I don’t have 3G in my area and would see no personal benefit from it, I would hate to see Apple miss this tomorrow, the outcry from all of the 3G lovin’ people would be too loud to deal with. (It’s practically a given, so I don’t have to worry about it) Subsidized - Not only would it mean that I could poss

060708: Just trying to post . . .

Well, after checking my stats, I’ve had this blog for over 3 years; however, it doesn’t seem that long of a stretch of time. And all of those who’ve come and gone. Not getting sentimental, but feeling the pull of time passing. Tonight. I sit in front of the computer, with headphones on and working. Listening to the most current re-master of Joy Division’s 1979 release ‘Unknown Pleasures’ as the temp here in NYC suburbia is still around 84 degrees, and thankful for central air!

The Triggermen - Chapter Eleven

It occurs to me that I should probably try to give some kind of recap of the story so far, but there's really no way I can do that at this point. Chapter Eleven As he puts the headphones on, Boone is expecting a message, some spoken word indication, clear or cryptic. But instead what comes through is musicâ€"steel guitars,
